Dagens dikt: Answer July av Emily Dickinson

Denna dikten läste jag faktiskt för första gången igår, på den officiella Facebook-sidan för Emily Dickinson. Både fin och tidsenlig 🙂 Nu har jag väl aldrig läst något av Emily Dickinson som jag inte gillar, men ändå! 

 

Jag gillar verkligen slutet, där jag antar att man uttalar ”year” som man gör i tjusig sydengelska, liksom ”yurr”,

Ah, said July—
Where is the Seed—
Where is the Bud—
Where is the May—
Answer Thee—Me—

Nay—said the May—
Show me the Snow—
Show me the Bells—
Show me the Jay!

Quibbled the Jay—
Where be the Maize—
Where be the Haze—
Where be the Bur?
Here—said the Year—
